Understanding IECC Building Enclosure Requirements
Building enclosures form the physical barrier between the exterior environment and interior conditioned spaces, making them a critical component affecting a building’s energy consumption. Recent changes to local and national energy codes have placed both prescriptive- and performance-based requirements on the design and construction of air barrier assemblies. In this webinar, we will discuss recent changes to the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) as they pertain to building enclosures, share what needs to be done to meet these requirements, and explore common issues encountered in the process. We will also identify the project milestones that trigger each requirement to ensure that your current and future projects remain on track and in compliance.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Understand the role of building enclosures in energy efficiency and their impact on a building’s overall energy consumption.
- Analyze recent IECC updates and how they influence air barrier design and construction.
- Identify common challenges encountered during air barrier design and construction, as well as strategies to address them effectively.
- Outline critical project milestones that trigger code compliance requirements, ensuring projects align with both prescriptive- and performance-based standards.
Participants will earn 1 AIA CES Learning Unit (LU/HSW) for attending the live webinar. Registration is free. Please note that space is limited – email events@sgh.com to join our waitlist if the session is closed when you register.
