Understanding and Evaluating Roofing Moisture Problems

Understanding and Evaluating Roofing Moisture Problems

Properly performing roofing systems are critical for building owners to maintain operations safely and comfortably for their occupants. Failed roofs can create many problems, from minor nuisance leaks to hazardous health conditions that could render the space uninhabitable. The growing frequency and severity of storm events across the country have impacted the performance of roofing systems of all ages, making roofing maintenance and assessments even more important moving forward. Identifying performance problems and roofing failures as soon as possible is critical to mitigate further damage to these systems and avoid needing a complete roofing replacement earlier than anticipated. In this webinar, we will provide an overview of conditions that impact roofing performance and share various testing methods, procedures, and equipment used to evaluate performance problems. We will also explore common nondestructive and destructive testing methods, including field and laboratory testing procedures, used to evaluate roofing performance problems.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize common roofing problems and moisture-related failure mechanisms.
  • Understand how to implement common test methods and procedures for evaluating roofing performance problems.
  • Recognize the value of conducting roofing field and laboratory testing.
  • Understand the appropriate application of different test methods and testing equipment.

Participants will earn 1 AIA CES Learning Unit (LU/HSW) for attending the live webinar. Registration is free. Please note that space is limited – email events@sgh.com to join our waitlist if the session is closed when you register.
