What Are Alternative Means and Methods Requests?

As a fire protection engineer, I often encounter situations when the building code doesn’t quite align with a project’s plan. Using an alternative means and methods request (AMMR) allows project teams to meet the intent of the code and ensure we’re providing an equivalent level of safety. Using these requests often helps us provide innovative and cost-effective solutions. In this video, I describe the main types of AMMR approaches and share why the whole project team needs to be involved from the beginning.
