Using Liquid-Applied Polymers in Roofing Applications

March 29, 2017

An ASTM International committee on roofing and waterproofing has developed a new test method for consideration to support the growing number of roofing projects that use liquid-applied polymers. Traditionally used to waterproof elevated parking decks, these membranes can be quite useful for roofing projects, as well. Delivery to the exact point of application in relatively small containers makes these products particularly attractive for small rooftop terraces, congested urban areas, and roofs that are not accessible by crane, where delivery of larger containers would create logistical problems.

New testing methods can help manufacturers report data consistently and allow users to better compare products. ASTM Committee D08 (Roofing and Waterproofing) will meet in June in Ontario, Canada, to discuss these test methods.
