Cutting Carbon: Embodied Carbon in Building Enclosures

Historically speaking, operational carbon dominated a building’s overall carbon impact. But through advancements in building performance—including more stringent energy codes and better equipment—that dominance has decreased and the discussion in the AEC community has switched from operational carbon to embodied carbon.
