SGH Names William Bruin Structural Engineering Region Head, West

Today, Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) announced Senior Principal William (Bill) Bruin will serve as the new Structural Engineering Region Head, West, overseeing the structural and marine engineering divisions in Oakland, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Newport Beach, CA; Houston, TX; and Denver, CO. In this role, he also joins SGH’s Executive Committee, which is responsible for the firm’s management and operations decisions.

Bill brings extensive experience in risk consulting, structural engineering, and project management applied over a variety of industrial, offshore, and waterfront projects, primarily in the oil and gas industry. His career has focused on condition assessment, response evaluation, risk identification, hazard mitigation, due diligence assessments, and design for a wide variety of onshore, near-shore, and offshore structures and facilities. He is also committed to advancing and giving back to the profession. He is active with several ASCE-COPRI committees and activities and has traveled to disaster locations for earthquake and tsunami reconnaissance.

SGH Principal Rune Iversen will take on Bill’s former role as Structural Engineering Division Head for the San Francisco Bay Area. Rune specializes in coastal, floating, near-shore, and offshore structures and facilities, with a focus on inspection, condition assessment, rehabilitation, and design for mooring and berthing systems and marine structures.
